Our client is a prestigious Top 200 UK law firm with a robust presence across six offices and over 300 dedicated staff. They provide a broad spectrum of expert legal services and independent financial advice to a diverse client base, including individuals, businesses, charities, and national corporations.
The Department
The Private Client team is renowned for its expertise in a wide array of services, including wills, wealth protection, inheritance tax planning, estate administration, trust services, and elderly client matters. The team also offers high-quality advice in family matters, litigation, property, conveyancing, and regulatory areas.
The Role
This hybrid role requires three days a week in the Cambridge office and offers two days of remote work. Part-time working arrangements will also be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Case Management: Manage a complex caseload of client matters independently, providing high-quality legal advice and maintaining proactive client relationships.
- Service Delivery: Ensure cost-efficient delivery of legal services for both clients and the firm.
- Team Support: Mentor and develop junior team members to help achieve the firm’s fee targets and enhance overall team performance.
- Strategic Development: Collaborate with the lead partner to develop strategy and annual business plans.
- Leadership: Lead and motivate staff, ensuring team objectives align with firm goals. Conduct one-on-one performance meetings and appraisals to provide regular feedback.
- Financial Management: Oversee credit management processes, time recording, lock-up, cash flow, profitability, and billing to ensure efficient operations.
- Performance Analysis: Utilise key performance indicators and implement new systems and processes to enhance team performance.
- Business Development: Advise partners on improving client experience and team profitability. Contribute to the firm’s reputation and attract new clients through professional and community activities.
- Marketing: Develop and execute a business development and marketing strategy, including organizing marketing events, networking, speaking engagements, and writing publications.
- Continuous Improvement: Pursue additional technical qualifications in private client law and disseminate new developments within the team. Seek personal and team development opportunities.
- Other Duties: Undertake any other reasonable duties as allocated.
Person Specification
- Qualifications: Qualified Solicitor with significant experience in private client work.
- Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing a full caseload independently, including wills, trusts, estate administration, and related matters.
- Client Care: Exceptional client care skills with a focus on delivering excellent service.
- Organisational Skills: Strong organisational and time management abilities.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Proactive: Self-motivated with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Community Engagement: Active participation in professional and community activities.
